About zaineb ShabanA Canadian Iraqi visual Contemporary artist & architect. Shaban was born in Baghdad/Iraq, graduated from university of Baghdad as an architect with an honor degree, lived , studied Environment & Energy program for Master Degree at the Architectural school of Architects in London & obtained a diploma in Interior Design in 2000 from London college, immigrated to Canada in 2001 worked in on of the biggest companies in Montreal as a Senior Architect.
she professionally took art as her main career & held many exhibitions & galleries solos & with group Quebecor, Canadian, American &Arab artists in Canada, United States & united kingdom was awarded in many occasions, the city of Brossard held 2 exhibitions for her after winning municipals competitions during of 2months. The Provence of Ontario also held plenty of exhibitions this year for her artworks. Shaban's artwork is inspired by the ancient civilizations of Iraq (Mesopotamia) and the Arab world. Her architectural background also greatly influences her artwork. Throughout the years, especially during her architectural studies, her style has evolved gradually from paintings depicting Iraqi and traditional landscapes to artworks illustrating symbolic abstract sceneries. The artist frequently makes use of mixed media appliqué, using various modeling pastes, gold leaves and textures to bring her paintings to life. A common motif in Zaineb's artwork is the contrast between the architecture of the cities and villages of yesterday and of today. |
